About us

We are a group of textile artists who have decided to join forces to keep ourselves on course on our creative journeys. Carla and Ruth were finalists for the Charles Henry Ford Award for Stitched Textiles in 2009. We met at the master class given by Alice Kettle for the finalists. Cäcilia, Gill, Lois and Ruth met even earlier on the internet in online classes at Quilt University and in the blogging sphere. Gill and Rose met on a City & Guilds Embroidery course. We all share a common interest in textiles.

One meets people in the real and virtual world and shares a common experience, but then each go their separate ways and the creative spark that was ignited wanes. This group blog is an experiment in keeping the spark alive and fanning it into a real flame. We believe that in a creative collaboration the whole is more than the sum of the parts. So our hope and aim is that this will become a community where we can continue to develop our art with help and encouragement from the group.

These are our current goals:

  • To complete one project every 3 months
  • the theme to be chosen by each one of us in rotation.
  • No restriction on size or format of the pieces produced – that is left entirely up to the individual.
  • No restriction on the medium for the pieces – anything goes.
  • We will journal about our thoughts, inspiration and the process on the group blog,
  • but we will only reveal the complete piece of work at the final “publishing” date.
